Existence Of National Examination To Improve The Quality Of National Education
Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.
Few days ago, the students of Senior High School in all Provinces in Indonesia followed the national Exam. This National Exam has implemented since some years ago. But I believe, that still many people don’t know Why Government implement National Exam, What are the purpose, and What are the advantages from the existence of National Exam? So, I have three point of explanation here.
1st . Why Government implement National Exam?

3rd. What are the advantages of National Exam?
1st. Why Government implement National Exam?
There are disparity of Education between Urban area and Rural Area. We can see from the condition of Facility and the number of teacher. In Urban area, we have good facility, such as English laboratory with Internet, LCD, Headphone, etc. This facility is important for the students to support teaching and learning process. As the jargons, Practice makes perfect.. So. This facility is needed to makes the students have more qualification. But, In Rural area, Most of school there doesn’t have this facility.
And the number of teacher in Rural Area, is few. So, how can teaching and learning can be processed? If we don’t have enough teacher.
From those example above, we can see the disparity. Those disparity makes the graduates from School in Rural area not qualify enough compare with the students in Urban area. So, their chance to get job or to continue study is fewer too. Government should do something to solve this problem. Government want to standardize it in order to makes them have same quality and Qualification. One of the way is implementing National Exam in all area in Indonesia. By giving national exam. Government can ensure all students have same quality in Education.
2nd. The Purpose of National Exam are:
1. as the tool to control quality of national education
2. to increase the quality of national education
3. as reference for selection to continue study in higher level.
3rd. The advantages of National Exam
National Exam create improvement in every year. We can see from the three things.
1. Subject
The subject which are tested in National Exam increase. In 2006, Only 3 subjects, but now there are 6 subjects for the students in senior high school. Why government do that? Because knowledge, technology, science always develop. So, government need to ensure the graduates are knowledgeable about those development. So, the graduates will have more qualification. Why it is better? For example, If there are two applicants, A and B, want to apply for a job vacancy. A only can speak English, but B can speak English and Japanese fluently. So, the company will choose B, because B have more qualification.
2. Standard score
Standard of Average score increase year by year. For Example, In 2007, the standard score is 5,0 But in 2008, is 5,25. If with the higher score, the students can graduate, means that the purpose of government is achieved, because the students can graduates.
3. Number Of Graduates
The number of students who failed in National exam decrease year by year. We can from the data. In Bandung, The passing grade is 94.88% in 2007. But in 2008, it increase become 97.46%. Means that, the number of students who failed, is decrease. In Bali, the passing grade increase 0.86% from 97.77% in 2007 become 98.63% in 2008. Why it can happens? Because the students learn from experience in previous year. They are more eager to study.
Besides, National Exam can create improvement in every year, By the existence of National Exam, we can also teach the students in mentally and increase the participation of parents and teachers in education.
Because the standard of National Exam increase every year, so the students should manage their emotion to don’t be afraid, and don’t be stress. In order to make them optimal in study, so they can pass the national exam better.
It can also increase participation of parents and teacher. Because the high standard in National Exam gives more burden to graduates, and if fail, it will be very shameful, so parents will give more attention to their children. The teachers also will teach the students harder.
Based on those explanation above, we can conclude that the existence of national exam is good. Because it can improve the quality of national education, and I hope the government can make all system in National education can be better.
